How often should pipettes be calibrated?
As part of his test equipment monitoring process, the operator determines the frequency of the calibration as well as the quantity of the testing volume and the number of measurements for each testing volume. This may vary depending on our how often the pipette is used, by how many operators the device is used, how aggressive the liquids are that are to be pipetted and the maximum permissible errors defined by the operator. However, there should be at least 1x inspection per year. Also refer to ISO 8655.
What do I need to remember before shipping the pipette?
The decontamination declaration must be completed in full. The pipette also needs to be packaged correctly and safely for transport to prevent any damage in transit.
There may be special customs requirements for electronic pipettes with a rechargeable battery if these are shipped abroad.

Centrifuges
Why should I have my centrifuge serviced at regular intervals?
To ensure the optimum performance and precision of your device. This also enables the early detection of any defects which can then be corrected easily. Performing a large number of cycles increases the susceptibility to rotor damage. Any damage can be detected at an early stage during a qualified inspection, i.e. the rotor can be replaced before any serious damage occurs.
How often does my centrifuge need to be serviced?
This depends on how intensively it is used and varies depending on the load on the device. However, it is recommended to have the centrifuge serviced at least once a year.
How often does the OQ need to be carried out for a centrifuge?
The company is responsible for technical checks of devices.
Eppendorf recommends regular device qualifications depending on the intensity of use, however, they should be carried out at least once a year.

How can I clean my centrifuges myself?
Use a neutral cleaning agent for cleaning. We recommend using alcohol or alcohol-based disinfectants for disinfection. Please ensure that the applicable legal regulations and guidelines are observed when selecting the disinfection method. You can find a detailed description in the video "Centrifuge Maintenance - The basis for your lab safety" or in the operating manual which can be downloaded from our website.

Mastercycler
Why should a temperature verification be carried out?
To ensure reproducible measured values and results we recommend thermal temperature verification.
What does temperature verification mean?
There are single-channel and multi-channel measuring systems. They provide the option to check whether the set block temperature is running according to the required specifications. If it is found that the values deviate from the specifications they can be adjusted.
How can my device be cleaned and which cleaning agents and disinfectants can be used for cleaning and disinfection?
Switch off the device, disconnect the mains/power plug and let it cool down. Make sure that no liquid can get into the inside of the housing. When cleaning has been completed, the device should only be connected when it is fully dry on the inside and on the outside.
Do not use any aggressive chemicals on the device or its accessories such as strong and weak bases, strong acids, acetone, formaldehyde, halogenated hydrocarbons or phenol. If the device is contaminated with aggressive chemicals, clean it immediately using a mild cleaning agent. Use a lint-free cloth and a mild, soapy laboratory cleaner.
Select disinfection methods that comply with the legal regulations and guidelines for your area of application. If you have any questions in this regard, please contact the local Eppendorf Service Team.

Why should I have my epMotion serviced at regular intervals?
To ensure the optimum performance and precision of your device. This also enables the early detection of any defects which can then be corrected easily. Only precise and accurate devices ensure successful liquid transfers!
How often do dispensing tools need to be calibrated?
As part of his test equipment monitoring process, the operator determines the frequency of the calibration as well as the quantity of the testing volume and the number of measurements for each testing volume. This may vary depending on how often the device is used, by how many operators it is used, the aggressivity of the liquids used and the maximum permissible errors defined by the operator. The dispensing tools of your device will display after 200,000 runs that an inspection is recommended. However, there should be at least 1 calibration per year.
Why can the dispending tool be calibrated without the user unit?
The epMotion dispensing tool is calibrated with the help of the epMotion Tool Holder. The electronic parameter to control the tools of the epMotion are always the same in all epMotion units. Therefore all epMotion dispensing tool can be calibrated on different units than the user unit. The only exceptions are the TS10 and TM10 dispensing tool. They can only be calibrated with units controlled by epBlue Version 40.5.

Lab Shakers
Why should I have my Orbital Shaker serviced at regular intervals?
As with all products with moving parts, wear and tear is inevitable and can affect how consistently the product operates over a long period of time. Eppendorf products are engineered to minimize wear and tear, but a periodic service allows early identification and tracking of excessive wear before product performance is outside of acceptable tolerances. Regular servicing may also be a regulatory requirement of our users.
How often does my orbital shaker need to be serviced?
Eppendorf recommends a service once every 12 months. However, the regulatory requirements of our users vary greatly and can often be more frequent.

Photometry
What is checked by the qualification service and why is it important for a photometer?
In functional qualification (OQ), comparative measurements are carried out against certified reference materials. These filters are traceable to reference standards of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, Gaithersburg, MD, USA) and are used to check the systematic and random error of the photometer and its wavelengths 260 and 280 nm.
For the Eppendorf BioPhotometers, the number of flashes of the xenon lamp is defined and set using a special service filter.
A check of the light path is necessary in order to determine any impurities in the cuvette shaft.
Only through regular calibration can compliance with the manufacturer's specifications be checked and correcting adjustments be made to the instrument if necessary
